Sickness
In the novel, Victor often falls ill and is remains ill for a very long time. After Henry is found dead Victor falls ill for a full two months, and during the time it took him to create the creature he often fell ill. I think that his illnesses are more psychologically caused, but for good reasons. How do you think you would to react to these repeated tragedies.

I'm like a possum when tragedy strikes. My defense mechanism is sleep. The extended illnesses Victor endures after hardship seem to be a pattern in other 19th authors such as Jane Austen. Great question.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine what I would do if I had to face that many deaths at once. I know when I have had to deal with loss in the past, I usually need to talk to someone, or I would just shut down. I usually talk to my best friend about random stuff to keep my mind off of things. It always helps to have someone to turn to...
ReplyDeleteI think i would probably be sick over the loss of one of my best childhood friends. But the reason he took ill when he was making the monster was lack of rest because your body needs rest otherwise your defense systems are low which makes it easier to get sick. But the loss of a loved one is a very tragic thing that can make a person feel like there is no need to go on in life which might have been why Victor got sick. Overall the loss of a great loved friend would make me sick for sure.
